Newsome Available
Penn State started the year with two key QB prospects in mind: Tate Forcier (CA) and Kevin Newsome (VA). Tate is still uncommitted and list PSU in his top schools as well as has a planned official visit for the Illinios game. Newsome however verballed to Michigan early leaving PSU with one top QB recruit.
Well, things have changed. The rumors surrounding Kevin the past few months came true today when his head coach confirmed that he has re-opened his recruitment. It is speculated that Virginia Tech, PSU and Michigan tops, but others are said to be under consideration as well. We will have to wait and see how this plays out, but I would expect to see Newsome for an official to Happy Valley at some point.
This could be good or bad for PSU. Good for obvious reasons now that they have 2 top QB targets again. One downside however, is that Tate has expressed numerous times that depth chart is a factor in his decision with early playing time being desireable. Depending on how much Kevin is looking at PSU could factor into the Tate decision. The last thing we need is for this to push us back on Tate's list simply for the chance of landing Kevin. It will be a very tricky recruitment I am sure.
One other possible negative is that Tate also has Michigan at the top of his list. With Newsome looking elsewhere, this may open Tate's eyes further to Michigan.
Time will tell, but things just got a little more interesting.

Still Update
It appears it was not Still's leg, however his ankle. Best case scenerio he could be back for the bye week after the Ohio State game. That would give him 3 games left to play. A medical redshirt is also still a possibility which will depend on if the NCAA approves as well as his recovery.

Still Injured
PSU still had pretty decent depth after the departure of 2 defensive lineman, however it became one less again. Devon Still broke his leg today in a scrimage. Not good news after he missed all of last season with a tore ACL. He will have to sit out another full year now due to this injury. This is very unfortunate as he was receiving very high praise so far this year.

New Offer
Penn State offered a new player today and right away went from top 2 to leader. He is one of the highest rated players at his position this year as well. Anthony Fera is a kicker from Houston, TX. Fera is high on the Lions and Ohio State, however, PSU is the only one to give a full ride. Ohio State offered a gray shirt as the Bucks are very close to being out of scholarships already this year in the rediculous class. Fera has offers from Kansas State as well.

Marks Gone
Rumor (and confirmed) is that Josh Marks has left the PSU program. Josh attended Southern Columbia High School and was a 4 star Guard on scout.com at the time. Rumor is he did not show to camp in top shape and the coaches were not happy. Marks is said to be looking for a transfer. This is very unfortunate as I even tailgated next to Josh's family one game and everyone was very happy and proud. He seemed like a great fit, but apparently he has other ideas.
