Mauti to Enroll Early

I am not sure if this was known before or not, but it is not official that PSU verbal commit Michael Mauti will be enrolling in January. Michael is rated as the #5 outside linebacker in the nation by ESPN's Scouts Inc. and a 4 star by scout.com.

Paterno's Salary Released

It is in. Coach Joe Paterno makes a whopping 500K a year. A big who gives a rats *** to those that thought he made in the millions. Those people are annoying as H and only want to say that to try to prove there is a reason to not like Paterno. Paterno has done so much for the university. Heck, in one donation alone he gave over 4 times that salary amount back to the university for a library. The people that turned the "wanting of several top officials salaries posted" into a Joe Paterno salary craze just got it handed to them. Of course now they will probably just say, they had enough time to fix the books. Come on people, give it a rest. The guy has done more for one school than anyone could have ever asked.

No Outback Bowl

Wisconsin had a chance of taking in the sun at Orlando again this year at the Capital One Bowl, however with being there the last two years, neither Wisconsin or the bowl wanted a 3rd. With that known, the Outback took Wisconsin early of the Sunday bowl announcement.

This is one less bowl that PSU has a shot at getting. With them playing there last year, it was doubtful at best anyhow to return. The Capital One Bowl, Alamo and Champs Sports Bowl are still an option, however most think it will be the Alamo Bowl. Illinios would have to make a BCS at large bid for the Capital One Bowl to be an option and even then, they would need to be chosen over Michigan.

Wedderburn Finally Picks PSU

Mark Wedderburn, 6'6" 235lb TE, told coach Vanderlinden on Sunday that he wants to continue his football career at Penn State. It has been know for some time that Mark was favoring PSU, but it seemed to take forever for him to pull the trigger. Now that he has, a lot of Nittany Lions fans can breath easier.

2008 Schedule

I wrote about it earlier in the month, but it is all but confirmed that Oregon State will replace Arkansas State next year on Penn State's schedule. The game will be at Beaver Stadium (no pun intended) and will give a nice boost to the home schedule next year which was looking VERRRRRY boring.

5 All Big Ten Members

Dan Connor and Justin King have been selected as first team all Big Ten after being second team last year. Maurice Evans, A.Q. Shipley and freshman Jeremy Boone have all been named to the first team as well for the first time.

Second team honors also went to Sean Lee and Rich Ohrnberger.

Honorable mention went to Gerald Cadogan, Josh Gaines, Kevin Kelly, Rodney Kinlaw and Anthony Scirotto.

And for some reason Anthony Morelli was named the team's Sportsmanship winner. That has got to be a consultation prize.

A.Q. Shipley.

BBall Graps 1st 08 Recruit

Today marked the first day of the early signing period for NCAA basketball. Billy Oliver did not waste any time committing to PSU. Billy is currently not ranked by scout.com. He is a 6' 8" power forward from New Jersey with good perimeter shooting.

Sean Lee to Return

There is no more speculating whether Sean Lee will return for his final year at Penn State next year. Sean put all questions to rest this week during an interview saying he will be returning for his final season.

A New Lion

D’Anton Lynn has verbally committed to Penn State. Lynn is a 4 star safety prospect according to Scout.com and is a great pickup for the lions. Lynn will come into PSU as a corner and keep working with his recruiter, Norwood. It came down to PSU and Oklahoma for the Texas star. Other offers include, USC, Ohio State and Florida to mention a few.
