Wedderburn Commit Coming?

Mark Wedderburn is one of the top tight end prospects in the nation this year and he has had Penn State marked as his leader for some time now. He is still planning visits, however his September 8th visit to Happy Valley is fast approaching. Mark went on to say that there is a 25% chance he will commit to Penn State on that visit. That would make much of Nittany Nation very happy to finally get this one in the bag.

High School Seasons Starting

Cardinal Mooney started their season Friday night and that means that two future Penn State players season is off. Brandon Beachum ran the ball 24 times for 181 yards and 2 TDs. Mike Zordich was Beachum's lead blocker all night at fullback putting up 48 yards of his one on a handful of touches. All this was done against Division I state runner up Mentor.

Michael Shaw also started his season this weekend with 100 yards on 18 carries.

Crawford In

Jack Crawford has become Penn State's 10th verbal commitment on the year. Jack is a 3 star DE on scout.com, but many reporters are saying he is the player on the east coast that is most underrated and has the biggest upside due to him only playing football for one year so far.

Alexander Still Listing PSU as Leader

A.J. Alexander has a top 3 of VT, Tennessee and Penn State however is still listing PSU as the leader. Time will tell as I am sure he will take his time this go around before making a decision.

Biggest Charges Dropped

Anthony Scirrotto had the most serious of his charges dropped leaving criminal trespass and harrassment still on the table.

#9

Penn State has received a verbal commitment #9 from PA native Pete Massaro. Pete has been trying for a PSU offer for some time now and he received one during the senior only camp in State College earlier this summer. This marks the second defensive lineman Penn State has taken this year. Pete is a 3 star defensive lineman on rivals.com.

Quarless Caught

Andrew Quarless and Willie Harriot both have been caught for under age drinking. This is the last thing this team needs right now. The two will probably be more than in Paterno's dog house. I would not expect to see Quarless for a few first games...

Posluszny Update

This is a pretty good story on the start of Paul Posluszny's career in the NFL. Here is one of my favorite parts:
"In college, for example, he was required to wear a shirt and tie in public at all times for road games. That’s all he packed for his first preseason game in New Orleans. He showed up for a team meeting in the Bills’ hotel dressed to the nines while his teammates wore shorts and sneakers. Rookie."

Travis McBride

Travis McBride had a successful high school career and it was anticipated that would continue at Penn State. However, McBride is not currently on Penn State's roster due to academic problems and is not expected to rejoin the team.

Still Lost for Year

Devon Still committed to Penn State with high expectations. So high in fact that most people had him making an impact this year in his class, however he tore his left ACL in practice on Friday. It is likely that he will be out for the entire season.

Big Recruiting Weekend

Penn State picked up three verbal commitments this weekend.

First, Deon'tae Pannell of Michigan gave his verbal commitment to Joe Paterno last Friday. It was down to Penn State, Michigan and Michigan State. A week or so ago Pannell was to make his choice but decided to wait a little while. This wait worried many PSU recruiting followers as in state Michigan seemed to pull close quickly. In the end he chose Penn State and said that he knew his choice for a while. This is a big grab for Penn State as there is much need at the offensive tackle position.

Deon'tae Pannell

The next day, Michael Shaw of Ohio quickly filled another position of need for Penn State. Michael is the 9th rated running back in the nation according to rivals.com and the night overall player in the state of Ohio.

Out of no where on Sunday, scout.com's Penn State site, fightonstate.com, reported that defensive lineman James Terry of Delaware gave a verbal commitment to the Nittany Lions. Terry is a 2 star defensive tackle with great size. He chose Penn State over offers from Temple, Towson and Delaware State.
