Linebacker "U"

After receiving commitments from two top linebackers in the nation already in the early recruiting process, PSU wanted one more. Today they got him... Mike Yancich committed to the Nittany Lions earlier today at his High School to not only make it the 3rd linebacker, but also the 3rd linebacker named Mike. Yancich decided on Penn State with Connecticut being second on his list. Pitt, Michigan State and West Virginia round out the top 5.

Now with our need at linebacker over, time to move onto running backs and offensive tackles.

Commit #3

This weekend PSU picked up an unexpected commitment from Michael Mauti. Mauti stated last week before he left for Happy Valley that he is not going there to commit, however the trip blew him away saying "it was absolutely awesome". Michael becomes PSU's third commitment this year and the second linebacker commitment.

Yancich Decision Coming

Trinity linebacker, Mike Yancich has not only narrowed his choices to five schools (Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State, Connecticut and West Virginia), but also has said he plans on making a decision in a week or two.

PSU Football Big10TV Debut

Penn State will play both Buffalo and FIU on the new Big10 TV channel. Currently, DirectTV is the only provider to add the channel to their packages which will surely add debate here in Central PA with a lot of Comcast cable subscribers.

PSU in Mauti's Top 3

Michael Mauti (Mandeville, LA) has listed a current top 3 with Penn State, Florida and Oklahoma. He says they flip flop back and forth all the time as his top school. Mauti's father played at Penn State and his brother is currently on the team as a walk-on. Both things that can not hurt our chances in landing him.

Lawlor DUI

PSU fullback, Dan Lawlor, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Lawlor has been a a backup his entire career at PSU, however with the loss of Brandon Snow, he could have saw some action this season; especially for short distance plays.

Penn State Fullback Throws Back A Few Too Many

#2 Commit

Penn State picked up their second commitment of the year in Ohio linebacker, Mike Zordich. Mike is the son of former PSU player Mike Zordich, Sr. The list was narrowed to PSU and Ohio State a few weeks ago and this weekend on his official visit, he decided to tell Joe he wanted to be a lion.

Zordich is 6' 1" and 220 pounds. He chose Penn State over offers from Syracuse, Wisconsin, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State Oklahoma, among others. Zordich is a great pickup for Penn State this early in the recruiting season. He plays beside a couple other D1 prospects that PSU would like to get their hands on as well.

Another New RB Prospect

Penn State is hitting up the state of Texas for a running back in Michael Thomas out of Houston. Michael is a Rivals 750 player and has the lions high on his list.
