New LB Offer

With Andrew Sweat deciding between Ohio State and Notre Dame, PSU took fellow teammate Mike Yancich to a new level of recruiting by offering him a written scholarship. Penn State was in touch w/ him for a while now, but just decided to offer. With the offer, Mike says it puts Penn State "near the top". He is looking to decide rather soon as well as he want to make a decision before the start of his senior season. It is thought that it will be between West Virginia, Pitt and Penn State.

Frazier Left Off List

Notre Dame commit, Zach Frazier, was left off the three deep list for quarterback by head coach Charlie Weis. It was already speculated that Frazier was ready to transfer. Being a sophomore and #4 on the list, I would think it is time...

Pocic Visiting

With this past weekends commit of A.J. Alexander to Florida State, it is time for some good news. Graham Pocic is visiting Happy Valley this weekend with his family, which by the way are huge PSU fans. The shocker in that statement is that Graham is from Illinois. He currently lists PSU with his other leaders which include Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin, however he has not narrowed his list yet officially. He wants to commit in the mid to late July time frame before his senior season. Graham is a rivals 250 player and currently stands at 6' 7" and 300 pounds.

Alexander to Commit Next Week

Without even narrowing down his list or giving leaders, A.J. Alexander is going to make his college choice known next week. The only thing anyone knows for sure is that he will choose from those that have extended him a written offer. That is not much of a narrowing down seeing schools like Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Penn State Notre Dame, Tennessee are all in that list and many more. There will not be a press conference he says for the event either. Stay tuned to hear his choice next week.

Mauti to Decide in August

Michael Mauti is a linebacker playing in Mandeville, LA, but has family ties to Penn State. His father played at Penn State and his brother is currently a wide reciever (Patrick Mauti). Michael has sholarships to at least 11 schools and puts Penn State in his top three with Florida and Oklahoma, which have both extended offers. Michael also admits that when growing up he said he would commit to the Nittany Lions as soon as he received an offer, but the reality set it when it arrived that he needs to look around to make sure. Right now the lions are sitting good with him in my opinion...

Manuel Trims to 10

Penn State did not take a quarterback last recruiting period and with good reason. However this year, they must take one as it is never good to go 2 years without a top notch quarterback and they have two very good ones in the general recruiting area for the lions. First is Terrelle Pryor from PA and right in the same list is Virginia QB E.J. Manuel. While Pryor reminds many of Vince Young, E.J. is being compared to JaMarcus Russell.

Today, Manuel lowered his list to 10 and PSU is part of that list. His top ten includes Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers and Tennessee listed in alphabetical order.

With these two great High School QB's both in PSU recruiting territory, at least one is a must get for the lions.

PSU Baseball Take Series at UM

The Penn State baseball team has taken its bruises this season. They started out pretty rough even though they did have a win against #1 North Carolina (at the time). The second half the lions have stepped it up with improving to an overall record of 25-23 (17-9 Big Ten). This is after winning 2 of 3 this past weekend at #16 Michigan. The series win will most likely allow the lions to play in the Big 10 tournament against Michigan in the first round.

Zordich Down to 2

It is early in the recruiting year, however Michael Zordich has narrowed his choices to Ohio State and Penn State. Zordich is the son of former PSU (and Eagle) player Michael Zordich. His mother also was a cheerleader at Penn State. Even with all the family ties, Michael says it will not influence his decision. He did mention at one point that he would like to make a decision before the start of his senior football season if he feels 100% sure with his choice.
