ESPN Pos Update

ESPN has published a good article on Pos and how he handled the injury and is looking ahead.

One interesting comment is that Pos mentioned that he all but decided to return to PSU for this year anyhow even w/o the injury.

Local Vidal Update

Below is a link to a story about the Vidal situation. The article quotes Bob Lichtenfels who works for scout.com. Bob knows a lot on the Vidal front as he was the only person I know that said Vidal did not send a parental signed copy of his LOI to USC when others were reporting it was a done deal.

It does not appear to be good new, however, some thoughts. Bob has not posted anything of this manor on scout.com, so why quote something this direct in a local paper? We will all know soon enough when he announces Friday around noon.

Hazelton to Announce

Vidal will be making his decision this Friday. His father, Dexter, said that Vidal will be calling around noon to tell him where he is going.

On a side note, Dexter also said that Vidal only needs to pass chemistry to become eligible. There have been rumors that he will not, but it seems like it is down to one class.

Another Kicker

Penn State may add to its kicking depth. Ryan Redler has transferred from Clemson to PSU and is trying out for the team. Ryan was selected to the first team All-FCIAC in 2004 and hit 89 percent of his PATs in his high school career.

Students Said To Have Violated NCAA Rules

Apparently it is an NCAA violation for students to hold signs with names of football player recruits or yell their name at basketball games. The NCAA has reviewed these occurances during PSU football games however said that the university is doing the right thing by explaining to students that this is not legal under NCAA rules.

Talk about a stupid rule.

Surprise

Anyone that watched the Wisconsin vs Penn State basketball game was hit with a heck of a surprise. Those of you that have TiVo and recorded the game, go to hour 1:08 and you will hear it. Vid-al Hazel-ton... Vidal made a surprise visit this weekend to State College and when at the game, the students welcomed him.

This has to be a good sign...

NCAA Replay Change Possibility

A NCAA committee made an announcement yesterday that they have recommended to allow at least one replay challenge per game by the coaches. This is a big change to the replay format last year (and the past 2 for the Big 10) as the replays could only be initiated by referees. The recommendation will be voted upon in March before it becomes official.

Rumor has it that Michigan gets one more review than any visiting team. :)

Junior California QB

Samson Szakacsy is a class of 2007 quarterback from California. Last season Samson completed 73% of his passes for 1,959 yards and 23 touchdowns. He currently has interest in Pac 10 schools Stanford and UCLA. So what is the news for PSU fans? Samson would actually prefer to play college ball in the Northeast. He has listed Penn State in his top 10 schools and plans to take a visit this summer.
