Paul Posluszny has made it to the finalist of the Butkus Award. The other finalist include Ohio States A.J. Hawk and Alabama's DeMeco Ryans.

Tamba Hali has also made it as a finalist for his position with the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award. Hali's competition is Elvis Dumervil (Lousiville), Willie Evans (Miss St.), Mathias Kiwanuka (BC), Ryan Neill (Rutgers) and Darryl Tapp (VT).
